Work a pipeline on the kanban board
Any object type with a pipeline (a stage field with an ordered list of stages) can be worked as a board instead of a table. You switch between the two on the type’s page.
Open the board
Section titled “Open the board”To switch a pipeline type to the board:
- Open the type’s page from the sidebar.
- Click Kanban in the view switcher next to Table.
- The records appear as cards under one column per stage.
The Kanban option only appears for a type whose admin has switched on a pipeline in the Schema tab of Admin. Mesy remembers your choice per type, so the page reopens in the same view.
Records with no stage, or a stage that no longer exists, gather in an Unstaged column at the start of the board. That column disappears when it’s empty and never accepts a drop.
Move a record to another stage
Section titled “Move a record to another stage”Drag a card and drop it on another column. The column reads Drop here while you hover over it. Mesy saves the new stage at once and shows the card in its new column. If the save fails, the card returns to its old column and Mesy shows the reason.
Dragging near the left or right edge of the board scrolls it sideways.
Add a record in a stage
Section titled “Add a record in a stage”Each stage column has an add control labelled Add to followed by the stage name. Click it, type a name and press Enter. Mesy creates the record in that stage and keeps the input open for the next one. Press Escape to close it. The Possible duplicate line appears under the input when the name matches an existing record’s identity values.
Read a card
Section titled “Read a card”A card shows the record’s title, then the related company or person where the type has such a link. Below that sits the value with an aging badge and, where the type has a probability field, a probability badge. The bottom row carries one attention signal when the record needs it, and the owner’s initial. A tag shows as a coloured dot in the card’s corner; the tag chips above the board are the legend for those dots.
Hover a card for a moment to open a read-only peek listing every other filled field. Click the card to open the record in the panel on the right.
Cards in the won and lost stages keep their value in a muted tone and show no aging or probability badge.
Show more fields on cards
Section titled “Show more fields on cards”To add fields to every card on this board:
- Click Card fields in the toolbar.
- Tick up to three fields. The picker reads Show up to 3 extra fields on each card.
- Drag the ticked fields to reorder them, or click Reset to clear them.
- The extra fields appear on each card under the title.
Your card-field choice is saved with the view when you save a view (see “Filter, sort, save views and export”).
Stage totals
Section titled “Stage totals”Each column header shows the number of cards in the stage. When the type has a value field, the header also shows the stage’s total value. A stage where some records have a probability shows a second, weighted figure marked wtd, which multiplies each value by its probability. The won and lost stages show only the plain total.
A type with no value field shows counts only; there’s no total to show. Your admin sets these under Value Field, Won Stage and Lost Stage in the type’s pipeline settings.
A board with nothing on it
Section titled “A board with nothing on it”A type with no records at all shows a message that no records exist yet, with New and Import CSV actions. When filters or a search narrow the board to nothing, the message says no records match your filters and offers Clear filters instead.
