Connect Telegram to your Mesy account

Checked against the app on

Pair your Telegram account with Mesy once. After that, you can chat with Mesy AI, send photos of business cards and get notifications in Telegram. Mesy AI is the AI you chat with in Mesy. It can look things up and prepare changes for you.

Each member pairs their own account. Before you start, your admin connects a Telegram bot for your business in Admin › Workspace Channels (see Workspace settings, channels and email templates). The bot is the Telegram account you chat with.

The pairing code starts with NX- and works for five minutes. The Expires in timer on the tab shows how long is left. The steps on the Telegram tab call it a link code.

Follow these steps to pair:

  1. Open Mesy AI (the Chat item in the sidebar).
  2. Under the Mesy AI title, click the Telegram tab.
  3. Click Generate code.
  4. Click the copy icon next to the code.
  5. In Telegram, search for the bot named on the tab, such as @yourbot.
  6. Open a chat with the bot.
  7. Send /connect followed by your code, for example /connect NX-1A2B3C4D5E. The bot replies “Account linked!” and welcomes you by name.

You don’t need to refresh Mesy. Within a few seconds, the Telegram tab shows Paired as and your Telegram username (or your first name if you have no username). A green dot appears on the tab.

After pairing, the tab shows your Telegram chat with Mesy. You can read it here, but you reply in Telegram. See Talk to Mesy on Telegram for what you can do there.

The bot chat has a Mesy button next to the message box. It opens Mesy inside Telegram, so you can pair from your phone without opening Mesy in a browser. If you can’t find the bot’s chat, ask your admin for the bot’s name.

Follow these steps to pair from Telegram:

  1. In the chat with the bot, tap the Mesy button. The screen says “Can’t sign you in here”. That’s normal before you pair.
  2. Tap Sign in to connect.
  3. Enter your Mesy Email and Password.
  4. Tap Sign in.
  5. If Mesy shows Confirm it’s you, enter the code from your authenticator app or use your passkey (see Two-factor and passkeys).
  6. Check the Connect this Telegram account? screen. It names your Telegram account and your workspace (your business’s own private area in Mesy). If you change your mind, tap Not now. Mesy signs you out and doesn’t pair your account.
  7. Tap Confirm. Mesy signs you in and opens Needs you. This lists the changes Mesy AI has prepared for you to approve. The bot sends a welcome message with an Open Mesy button.

To check your pairing, open Settings › Integrations. The Telegram card shows who you’re paired as and since when. In Telegram, send /status to see which Mesy account you’re paired with. The bot replies “Connected” with your Mesy name.

To remove the pairing, do one of these:

  • On the Telegram tab of Mesy AI, click Disconnect. Mesy disconnects straight away and shows “Telegram disconnected”.
  • In Telegram, send /disconnect. The bot replies “Account disconnected. You can re-link anytime with /connect.”

After that, the bot answers your messages and most commands with a reminder to pair. To pair again, follow either set of steps above.

If your admin removes the workspace’s Telegram bot, every member’s pairing is removed with it.

  • If there’s no Telegram tab on Mesy AI, ask your admin to connect a Telegram bot.
  • If Generate code shows “No Telegram bot configured for this workspace”, your admin has probably paused the bot. Ask them to click Activate on the Telegram Bot card in Admin › Workspace Channels.
  • If the bot doesn’t reply at all, the bot is probably paused too. Ask your admin to activate it.
  • If the bot tells you to get a code from Settings, go to Settings › Integrations. On the Telegram card, click Telegram tab of Mesy AI.
  • If the bot says “Invalid or expired code”, the code has run out or was mistyped. Generate a new one on the Telegram tab. A new code replaces the old one.
  • If you sent your code in a group chat, send it to the bot in a private chat instead. The bot pairs only in a private chat.
  • If the bot says “Too many attempts”, you’ve sent /connect more than five times in five minutes. Wait five minutes and try again.
  • If Telegram can’t use your passkey, tap Verify in your browser. Then approve the sign-in in your browser.
  • If Mesy says “This workspace requires two-factor sign-in”, set up two-factor sign-in in Mesy on the web first (see Two-factor and passkeys). Then try again.
  • If Mesy says “That Telegram account is already linked to another user in this workspace”, that person has to disconnect it first. One Telegram account can pair with only one person per workspace.
  • If the confirm screen says “This connection request is no longer available”, more than ten minutes have passed or the request was already used. Tap Start over.
