Set up your workspace on the welcome screen

Checked against the app on

After you create a workspace, Mesy shows a short welcome screen. In three steps you choose a look, add your first records and invite your team.

Every step is optional. To leave at any time, click Skip at the top. Mesy opens your dashboard. To go back a step, click Back.

Until you click Skip, Finish, Add manually or Go to dashboard, Mesy shows the welcome screen each time you open app.mesy.ai.

The first step welcomes you and shows your workspace name. It also lists the record types that came with the template you picked at sign-up. A record is one entry in Mesy, such as one customer or one deal. A record type is a kind of record, such as Contacts, Companies or Deals.

To pick a theme:

  1. Under Choose your look, click Modern, Comfortable or Dark. Mesy switches to it straight away and saves it to your account.
  2. Click Continue. Mesy shows the second step.

To change the theme later, click your name at the bottom of the sidebar to open Settings. Then open the Appearance tab. See Profile, appearance and notifications.

The second step asks you to add your first records. Its title uses your own word for them, for example “Add your first Contact”. In the Recruitment template it reads “Add your first Candidate”.

Choose one of these:

  • To upload a spreadsheet, save it as a CSV file and click Import CSV. Mesy opens the Import Contact dialog.
  • To move from another CRM, click From another CRM. Auto-match with AI is already on, so Mesy matches your old columns to Mesy’s fields. A field is one piece of information on a record, such as a phone number. You check every match before anything is imported.
  • To type records in one at a time, click Add manually. The welcome screen closes and Mesy opens your Contacts list (or whatever your business calls it).

When an import adds or updates records, closing the dialog takes you to the invite step. Otherwise you stay on this step. For the details of each import, see Import records.

To move on without adding anything, click Skip for now. Mesy shows the invite step.

If you picked the Blank / Custom template, you have no record types yet. The step reads “Your workspace is a blank canvas” and offers From another CRM and Go to dashboard. To build your own record types, see Design your data.

In the last step, you make an invite link for one teammate. They open it and set their own password. You also choose whether they join as a Member, who does the daily work, or a Manager, who also runs the team.

To invite a teammate:

  1. Choose Member or Manager from the list.
  2. Click Generate link. The link appears below the button.
  3. Click the copy button beside the link.
  4. Send the link to your teammate, for example by email or WhatsApp.
  5. Click Finish. Mesy opens your dashboard.

Each link works for one person. A link nobody uses expires after 7 days.

Before you click Finish, you can invite more people. Click Regenerate to make a new link for each one. Your earlier links keep working.

To invite an admin, or to see and cancel unused invitations, see Invite members and set roles.

Your dashboard shows a Get started card with a count, such as 1 of 4. Mesy ticks off each item when it sees the work done. You don’t need to mark anything yourself.

  • Add your first Contact is ticked once your Contacts list has a record. Add records opens that list.
  • Set up your Deal pipeline shows for admins when the workspace has a pipeline. A pipeline is the set of stages a deal moves through, from first contact to won or lost. Every template with a pipeline sets up its stages for you, so this item starts ticked.
  • Connect email & calendar is ticked once you connect Gmail, Outlook or a calendar. Connect opens your Inbox.
  • Invite your team shows for managers and admins. It’s ticked once a second person joins the workspace. Invite opens the Organization tab. Only an admin can make invitations there, so a manager asks an admin to send one.

The card goes away once every item on it is done. To hide it sooner, click the close button on the card. It doesn’t come back.

Mesy AI (the Chat item in the sidebar) is where you ask Mesy questions. To choose whether Mesy opens there or on your dashboard, see Profile, appearance and notifications.

A few more things are worth setting up in your first days. Each has its own page.

  • Choose what Mesy AI may do on its own. In a new workspace, Mesy AI starts at Read-only in every area. It answers questions but can’t change anything by itself, so at first it may say no to a request. See Set up the AI.
  • Connect your WhatsApp numbers and Telegram bot. Customer WhatsApp chats come into Mesy once you connect a number. Your team can talk to Mesy AI in Telegram only after you connect a bot. See Workspace settings, channels and email templates.
  • Fill in your Business Profile. Describe your business and answer questions customers often ask. Mesy uses it to suggest replies to customers. See Fill in your Business Profile.
  • You chose Admin and got an error. An invite link can’t make someone an admin. Choose Member or Manager, or see Invite members and set roles.
