Track campaigns on the Marketing page
Checked against the app on
The Marketing page shows how your campaigns are doing and where your enquiries come from. It also shows who agreed to get your emails, and the campaign emails waiting to go out. Everyone on your team can open it.
A campaign is one marketing push, such as an open day or a promotion. Mesy keeps each one as a record: one entry, like a customer or a deal. Mesy uses your business’s own words for campaigns and deals, so your page may say “open day” or “intake” instead.
Only a manager or an admin can add or change web forms and WhatsApp entry points. Campaign emails need the Marketing add-on. An add-on is an extra part of Mesy that your business can turn on.
Campaigns, deals and people on this page include only the records you’re allowed to see.
Open the Marketing page
Section titled “Open the Marketing page”In the sidebar, click Marketing. If you don’t see it, your admin hasn’t set up a list for campaigns yet.
Add a campaign
Section titled “Add a campaign”To add a campaign:
- On the Marketing page, click the button named after your campaigns, such as New open day.
- Fill in the form.
- Click Create. Mesy opens the new campaign’s record.
See how each campaign is doing
Section titled “See how each campaign is doing”The first panel is named after your campaigns, such as Open days, and shows how many you have. It shows up to 50 of them, oldest first. To see them all, click the link beside the heading, such as All open days.
On a computer, switch between Cards and Table with the two icons beside the heading. Mesy remembers your choice in this browser. On a phone you always see cards.
A card shows the campaign’s name, its stage and any dates on the record. With the Marketing add-on, it also says when the last email went out, such as “last send 2d ago”.
With the add-on, four numbers sit under that. Each person in the campaign is counted in only one of them:
- Targeted counts people whose email hasn’t gone out yet or failed to send.
- Sent counts people whose email went out.
- Replied counts people who wrote back.
- Opted out counts people who unsubscribed or replied STOP.
The last line counts the deals this campaign brought in, such as “Sourced deals 12”. Value beside it adds up their amounts.
The table shows the same numbers in columns, with Stage and Last send, but without the record’s dates. Click a card or a row to open the campaign’s record.
Add a web form or a WhatsApp entry point
Section titled “Add a web form or a WhatsApp entry point”A source is a way new people reach you. There are two kinds. A web form collects enquiries from your website. A WhatsApp entry point is a link or ad that opens a WhatsApp chat with your business.
To add one:
- At the top of the Marketing page, click New source.
- Choose Web form or WhatsApp entry point. Mesy opens the form for a new one.
To finish setting it up, see Web forms or WhatsApp entry points. The Sources panel also has its own Add web form and Add entry point buttons.
Check how your sources are doing
Section titled “Check how your sources are doing”Each source has a card in the Sources panel. A web form’s card shows Received and Last received. An entry point’s card shows Chats and Last chat. A badge says whether the source is On or Off. Off · owner left means Mesy switched it off because the person who owned it left your workspace.
Link a source to a campaign
Section titled “Link a source to a campaign”The Feeds row on a source’s card says which campaign the source belongs to. To link one:
- On the source’s card, go to the Feeds row. If no campaign is linked, it reads “No open day” (or your word for campaigns).
- Click Link one.
- Pick the campaign. Mesy shows “Campaign linked”, and the Feeds row shows the campaign’s name.
Click the name to open the campaign’s record. To pick a different campaign, click Change. To remove the link, click Unlink.
See who you can email
Section titled “See who you can email”The Audience panel counts the customers and contacts you keep in Mesy. It also shows whether each one agreed to get marketing emails. The heading shows the total, such as “Audience 128 people”. If you have nobody yet, the panel says so, such as “No people yet”.
The Email row has a bar split three ways, with the counts beside it:
- Opted in means the person said yes.
- Unknown means nothing is recorded either way.
- Opted out means the person said no.
Under the bar, Mesy says: “Unknown is included in a launch unless you narrow it. Opted out is always excluded.” A launch is one campaign email sent to the people you pick. People marked Unknown get it if they’re among them. People who opted out never get it.
Mesy sends campaigns by email only for now, so the WhatsApp row reads “Coming with WhatsApp sends”.
To record whether a person agreed to marketing emails, see Record a person’s marketing consent.
Export your audience
Section titled “Export your audience”The Audience panel has two download buttons:
- Export CSV downloads the people in your main people list as a spreadsheet file, up to 10,000 of them.
- Export email opt-ins downloads only the people who said yes to email. Use this one when you share a list with an agency.
These files include everyone. To export only some people, filter your people list and export it from there. See Filter, sort, save views and export.
Approve your launches
Section titled “Approve your launches”You launch a campaign from its record. See Send a campaign email. Mesy then waits for you to approve it.
Your own launches from every campaign wait in the Sends panel. Nobody else’s appear there. A launch reads, for example, “Launch to 40 recipients · Spring open day”. Held emails you asked to release wait there too, such as “Release 30 held sends · Spring open day”. You approve them the same way. To learn what the lines under it mean, see Approve the email before it goes out.
To check a launch’s details first, click Review on its row. Mesy opens it on the Approvals page.
To approve a launch:
- In the Sends panel, find your launch.
- Click Approve & send. The row leaves the list, and the emails wait to go out. You see them in the Queued count.
To see everything waiting for you, click Open Approvals beside the Sends heading.
Follow your campaign emails
Section titled “Follow your campaign emails”With the Marketing add-on, the four numbers at the top of the Sends panel count the whole team’s campaign emails, across every campaign:
- Queued counts emails waiting to go out.
- Failed counts emails Mesy retried and still couldn’t send.
- Skipped counts emails Mesy didn’t send.
- Today’s budget left counts how many of the day’s 200 emails are left, such as “150 of 200”.
Your whole team shares this budget. It resets at midnight, Singapore time.
A line under the numbers gives the reasons for skipped emails, such as “Skipped: 3 opted out · 2 held by the daily cap”. Held emails aren’t lost. See Send emails held back by the daily limit.
If an email fails, a line under the numbers tells you. To see how many of one campaign’s emails failed, open the campaign’s record and click its Marketing tab.
If your business doesn’t have the Marketing add-on
Section titled “If your business doesn’t have the Marketing add-on”Everything else on the page still works. Here’s what changes:
- A campaign card shows one box, Reach, instead of the four numbers. It reads “Sends are part of the Marketing add-on”.
- Cards don’t show when the last email went out. The table has no Targeted, Sent, Replied or Opted out columns, and its Last send column stays empty.
- The Sends panel says “Not in your plan.”
To get the add-on, your admin asks Mesy for it. See Ask for an add-on.
If something doesn’t work
Section titled “If something doesn’t work”- If the page says “No campaign type yet”, your admin needs to choose which list holds campaigns. They click Open Admin › Object types and set that list’s Semantic Role to Campaign. See Design your data.
- If a campaign card has no “Sourced” line, your deals need a field (one piece of information on a deal) that points to one campaign. A field that holds several campaigns doesn’t count. Until your admin adds one, the table shows “Not configured”. Your admin can follow Design your data.
- If the deal count shows but its value doesn’t, ask your admin to choose a Value Field for deals.
- If there’s no Audience panel, ask your admin to set up a list for people.
- If a launch row has no campaign name, the campaign is outside the 50 that the first panel shows. Click Review to see the launch’s details.
- If approving shows “Somebody settled this elsewhere. Refreshing.”, the launch was probably approved or dismissed somewhere else. If the row is still there after the refresh, your Gmail or Outlook may no longer be connected. Reconnect it, then click Approve & send again. See Connect and disconnect integrations.
- If approving shows another error, such as “Couldn’t send this campaign”, the launch didn’t go out. Click Review to check it on the Approvals page.
