Talk to Mesy on WhatsApp

Checked against the app on

Chat with Mesy AI from WhatsApp on your phone. Ask about your customers and deals, send business cards and files, and confirm changes without opening Mesy. Your admin doesn’t need to set anything up.

This chat is between you and Mesy. Your customers never see it. For the chats customers send to your business, see WhatsApp messages.

Mesy on WhatsApp doesn’t send reminders or daily summaries. For those, see Notifications and digests.

Pairing connects your phone to your Mesy account. You only need to do it once.

  1. Open Mesy AI (the Chat item in the sidebar).
  2. Click the WhatsApp tab.
  3. Click Generate code. A code appears. It lasts 5 minutes and works once.
  4. Click Open in WhatsApp. WhatsApp opens a chat with Mesy, with the code already typed in.
  5. Send the message. Mesy replies with your name, for example “You’re connected to Mesy as Mei Ling.” The WhatsApp tab now shows Paired as with your WhatsApp name, or part of your number if WhatsApp doesn’t share your name.

No WhatsApp on this computer? Use your phone instead. Find the number next to Mesy’s number at the bottom of the WhatsApp tab. Send the code to it as a message on its own.

To use a new phone, pair it the same way. Mesy then answers on the new phone only.

Type a message to Mesy as you would to a colleague. For example, “Which deals are in Negotiation?” or “What did Mei Ling say about the Tampines quote?” Mesy looks it up in your records and replies in the chat. A record is one entry in Mesy, such as one customer, one company or one deal. Mesy sees only what you can see on the web.

When you ask for a change, your admin’s AI settings decide what happens. Mesy makes the change straight away, sends a confirm card first, or tells you it isn’t allowed to make that change. A confirm card is a message headed “Confirm before this runs” that lists what will change. Set up the AI explains these settings.

A confirm card on WhatsApp, with its Confirm and Discard buttons.

Tap ✓ Confirm to make the change, or ✕ Discard to drop it. Approve AI actions from a chat app explains the card in full, including Edit and ↩️ Undo.

If your admin turns off confirming in chat apps, the card has no buttons. It links to the Approvals page in Mesy, where you confirm it.

Mesy doesn’t send email from WhatsApp. When it writes one for you, it sends a message headed “📧 Draft ready for your review”, with who it’s to and the subject. The message links to the Approvals page in Mesy, where you read and send it.

  1. Take a photo of the business card.
  2. Send it to Mesy with no caption. Mesy reads it and sends a confirm card to add the person as a new contact.

If the business card names a company, the confirm card also adds the company. If the company is already in Mesy, it links the contact to it instead. If the person may already be in Mesy, the confirm card says so and the button reads ✓ Add anyway. For more, see Capture into the CRM.

If the photo isn’t a business card, Mesy replies “This doesn’t look like a business card.” It keeps the photo in Files.

Send a document, such as a PDF quotation, and Mesy saves it to Files. It replies with the file’s name, for example “Saved to Files: Tampines-quote.pdf”.

  • For a PDF, or a photo sent with WhatsApp’s Document option, Mesy adds a short summary of the file to its reply.
  • Mesy keeps other file types too, but doesn’t read them.
  • Files can be up to 25MB each.

Add a caption to tell Mesy what to do with a document or photo. For example, send a quotation with the caption “Link this to the Tampines Reno deal”. Mesy saves the file, then answers your caption. A photo with a caption is saved as a file. Mesy doesn’t read it as a business card.

Files you send show on the Files page with the source WhatsApp assistant. It shows under Needs review on the Files page until you link it to a customer or deal, or click Dismiss. A business card photo leaves Needs review once Mesy sends its confirm card. See Upload, link and share files.

Send a command on its own, with nothing after it.

  • /help lists the commands.
  • /status shows whose Mesy account this phone is paired to, and whether they’re an admin, manager or member.
  • /pipeline shows how many of the deals you can see are at each step of your pipeline, with their value and a total. Your pipeline is the steps a deal moves through, such as New or Won.
  • /tasks lists your open tasks.
  • /clear starts a fresh conversation. Mesy forgets the messages in your current one, and they’re gone from the WhatsApp tab on the web too. /continue can’t bring them back.
  • /continue goes back to your previous conversation.
  • /disconnect unpairs this phone (see below).

If you don’t message Mesy for 6 hours, your next message starts a new conversation. Mesy tells you when this happens. Send /continue to go back to the old one.

The WhatsApp tab of Mesy AI shows your WhatsApp chat with Mesy, marked Read-only · synced from WhatsApp. You can read it and confirm waiting cards there, but you can’t reply. Read your chats on the web explains the tab.

If you confirm or discard a card on the web, Mesy posts the result in your WhatsApp chat. It only does this if you messaged Mesy there in the last 24 hours.

Send /disconnect in the chat. Or open the WhatsApp tab of Mesy AI and click Disconnect.

Mesy stops answering your questions from that phone. If you message it, Mesy only replies with how to pair. The WhatsApp tab shows Generate code again.

  • If there’s no WhatsApp tab in Mesy AI, Mesy on WhatsApp isn’t available yet. Mesy sets it up for everyone, so your admin can’t turn it on.
  • If Mesy replies “That code is not valid or has expired.”, the code was used, mistyped or more than 5 minutes old. Click Generate code to get a new one.
  • If Mesy replies “This number is already paired to another Mesy account.”, this phone is paired to another Mesy account, maybe your own in another workspace. Disconnect it from that account’s WhatsApp tab first. Then click Generate code for a new code, because the old one is used up.
  • If Mesy says the number “is connected to Mesy as a business WhatsApp line”, this phone is your business’s own WhatsApp line and can’t also talk to Mesy. Click Generate code and send the new code from a different phone.
  • If Mesy replies “Send me text, photos or documents. I can’t process this message type yet.”, you sent something Mesy can’t take, such as a voice note, video, sticker or location. Type your message instead.
  • If Mesy replies “This workspace is currently unavailable.”, your Mesy account has been turned off, or your business’s Mesy is suspended. Ask your admin.
