Talk to Mesy on Telegram

Checked against the app on

Chat with Mesy AI from Telegram. Ask questions, send voice notes, photos and files, and read the chat later on the web. Mesy AI is the AI built into Mesy. It looks things up in your records and prepares changes for you. A record is one entry in Mesy, such as one customer, one company or one deal.

In Telegram, you chat with Mesy AI through a bot that your admin set up for your business. First, pair your Telegram account. Pairing links it to Mesy with a short code, and you only do it once. See Connect Telegram.

Type your question or request as a normal message. Mesy AI answers using your records. A long answer arrives as several messages.

Mesy AI works in Singapore time. When you say “today” or “next Tuesday”, it uses the Singapore date, whatever your phone is set to.

When you ask Mesy AI to change something, it either makes the change straight away or sends a confirm card first. It depends on the permission level your admin sets in Admin › AI Permissions. When it sends a card, nothing changes until you confirm. See Approve AI actions from a chat app.

Record a voice note in your chat with the bot, or send an audio file. The bot writes out what you said, starting with “Transcription:”. Mesy AI then answers it as if you had typed it.

A voice note can be up to 5 minutes long. The bot turns down anything longer and asks for a shorter message.

Send a photo of a business card with no caption. Mesy AI reads it and prepares a new contact for you to confirm.

Send any other file, or a photo with a caption, and the bot saves it in Files. A caption tells Mesy AI what to do with it. For example, send a signed form with the caption “Link this to the Tan & Co deal”.

Photos and files can be up to 20MB. Add contacts from business cards and save files explains the bot’s replies and how to link saved files to a record.

Type / in the chat, or tap the menu button beside the message box, to see the commands. Send /help to get the list of commands with a line on each.

These commands show your work at a glance:

  • /pipeline shows how many deals are at each stage of your pipeline. A pipeline is the steps a deal moves through, from first contact to done. Each step is a stage.
  • /tasks lists your open tasks.
  • /digest sends today’s digest now. The digest is a short summary of your day in Mesy.

/pipeline and /digest count only the records you can see in Mesy. Your admin can switch them to show totals for the whole business.

The other commands are covered on their own pages:

Send /clear to start over. The bot replies “Context cleared. Starting a new conversation.” Mesy AI forgets the messages in your current conversation. They’re also gone from the Telegram tab on the web. /continue can’t bring them back.

If you send Mesy AI a message more than 6 hours after the last one, it starts a fresh conversation. Before it answers, it tells you so, for example “New conversation. Your last one was 8 hours ago. Send /continue to pick it up instead.”

Send /continue to go back to your previous conversation. The bot replies “Picking up your previous conversation. Carry on where you left off.” If there’s no earlier conversation, the bot tells you so.

Your Telegram chats with Mesy AI also show in Mesy on the web. You can read them there but not reply. To open them on the web:

  1. Open Mesy AI (the Chat item in the sidebar).
  2. Under the Mesy AI title, click the Telegram tab. Your latest Telegram conversation opens, marked “Read-only · synced from Telegram”.

The Telegram tab has a small dot: green if you’re paired, grey if you aren’t. The bar at the top of the tab shows “Paired as” with your Telegram name, and a Disconnect button. Clicking Disconnect unpairs your Telegram account straight away, without asking first.

To reply, use the Open in Telegram button under “Continue in Telegram” at the bottom of the tab. It opens your chat with the bot. Messages you type on the Web tab stay in your web chat and don’t reach Telegram.

A confirm card for a change that’s still waiting shows below the conversation. Confirm or discard it here, or in Telegram. Cards for sending an email don’t show on this tab. Confirm those in Telegram.

To read an older Telegram conversation, click the Mesy AI title to open your conversation history. Telegram conversations show with the Telegram logo and the name Telegram. Click one to open it on the Telegram tab.

The WhatsApp and Teams tabs work the same way for Mesy on WhatsApp and Mesy on Teams. Each tab shows only once that app is available to your business.

  • If the bot replies “Link your account first”, or the Telegram tab shows a Generate code button, you aren’t paired yet. See Connect Telegram.
  • If there’s no Telegram tab, your admin hasn’t connected a Telegram bot yet. Ask your admin to connect one in Admin › Workspace Channels.
  • If the bot says the workspace is unavailable, your business’s Mesy account or your own account is paused. Ask your admin.
  • If the bot says you’re sending too many messages, voice notes, photos or files, wait a minute and try again.
  • If the bot says the monthly AI usage limit is reached, it stops answering, even to commands. Ask your admin.
  • If the bot can’t write out a voice note, it says so. Record it again, or type your message instead.
  • If the bot says the assistant is temporarily unavailable, try again in a moment.
  • If you send a sticker or anything else the bot can’t handle, it replies “Send me text, photos, documents, or voice messages. Type /help for commands.”
  • If the tab says “No conversations yet”, send the bot a message. The conversation shows on the tab as you go.
