Connect Telegram to your Mesy account

Link your Telegram account to your Mesy account from Settings, under the Integrations tab. Once linked, the workspace bot chats with you, forwards your notifications and turns photos of business cards into contacts.

Your workspace needs a Telegram bot. An admin connects one in Admin under Workspace Channels. Until that happens, the Telegram section in Settings says No Telegram bot configured for this workspace yet, and the link steps don’t appear.

Linking works in a private chat with the bot only. If you send the link command in a group, the bot refuses and tells you to open a private chat with it.

You start the link on the web and finish it in Telegram. The code is valid for 5 minutes, and the page shows a countdown while it waits. To link your account:

  1. Open Settings and select the Integrations tab.
  2. Under Telegram, find the Your Link heading and click Generate Code.
  3. Copy the code. It starts with NX- and expires when the countdown reaches zero.
  4. Open the bot named on the page in Telegram and send /start if you haven’t chatted with it before.
  5. Send /connect followed by your code, for example /connect NX-1A2B3C4D5E.
  6. Read the bot’s reply. It says Account linked!, greets you by name and points you to /help.
  7. Return to Settings. The section now reads Linked as followed by your Telegram username and the date you linked.

If the bot answers Invalid or expired code, generate a new code from Settings and send it again. The bot accepts five /connect attempts in five minutes; after that it answers Too many attempts and asks you to wait a few minutes.

The bot’s menu button opens the Mesy mini app, and you can link from there without visiting the web app. When your account isn’t linked yet, the screen reads Can’t sign you in here. To link from there:

  1. Tap Sign in to connect.
  2. Enter your Mesy Email and Password on the Sign in to connect screen, then tap Sign in.
  3. Complete the two-factor step if your account has one.
  4. Read the Connect this Telegram account? screen. It names your Telegram account and the workspace it links to.
  5. Tap Confirm. Nothing is linked until you do; Not now ends the sign-in without linking.
  6. Wait for the mini app to sign you in and open its Needs you list. In the bot chat, the bot sends You’re connected to Mesy. with an Open Mesy button.

A Telegram account can be linked to one Mesy user per workspace. If someone else in the workspace already linked the same Telegram account, the confirmation fails. The screen offers Open Mesy so you can sort it out on the web.

Send /status to the bot to see the account and role it is linked to. To unlink, send /disconnect in Telegram, or click Disconnect next to your link in Settings. Either way the bot stops answering you until you link again, and it tells you so: Link your account first.
